About us
Paperwork that keeps up with your business
Cheapa Docs is a free tool for creating professional receipts, invoices and quotations on a phone — built for the way small businesses in Uganda and across Africa actually work.
The problem we set out to solve
Most small businesses still write receipts by hand. A paper book works until it doesn't: the copy fades, the book goes missing, and there is no record when a customer comes back with a question. For the customer, a handwritten slip is hard to trust.
The software built to fix this was never really built for this market. It expects a desktop, an accountant, a subscription in dollars, and a stable internet connection. Cheapa Docs starts from the opposite assumption: a phone, a busy shop, and a customer waiting.
How it works
- Choose a document. Pick a design from the gallery — receipt, invoice, quotation and more.
- Enter the details. Fill in the blanks. Your business name, logo and signature are saved, so you only add them once.
- Share or download. Send it to your customer on WhatsApp, or save it as a PDF.
It takes about a minute, and it is free.
Who it is for
Shops and retailers, phone and gadget sellers, salons, restaurants, traders and suppliers, landlords collecting rent, and freelancers who invoice clients. If you take money from customers and want to hand them something that looks professional, it is built for you.
What we are working on next
- Products & stock, so your receipts can pull from a saved catalogue
- Rent and due-payment tracking for landlords and anyone invoicing on a schedule
- More document designs, added regularly
- Guides that answer the common questions without needing to ask us
The person behind it
Cheapa Docs is built by Erick Ssali, founder of Cheapa Studio.
The idea came from a simple, repeated observation: businesses that do good work can still look unprofessional at the final moment, when it is time to hand over a receipt. Not because they do not care, but because the tools available to them were never designed for a phone, a small budget, and a customer standing in front of them.
The aim is straightforward — make business paperwork something a person can finish on their phone in under a minute, and make the result something they are proud to hand over.
